Welcome to the World of

Adele Frank

I was born in Pécs, a city in southern Hungary known for its artistic heritage and fine craftsmanship. It’s a place where the hand’s intelligence still matters — where making something well is part of the culture. That quiet ethos of precision and care has shaped me deeply as a designer.

Throughout my career, I’ve had opportunities to present my work in major cities such as London, Paris, or Budapest. But I chose to stay rooted in Pécs. This is where my brand was born, and where it continues to grow — not just as a studio, but as a space for focused creation, far from the noise of fashion capitals.

My early collections were steeped in fashion history. Gothic sleeves, baroque cuffs, the softly structured silhouettes of the late 19th century — all found their way into my work. I studied old pattern books, visited fashion museums, and modernized what I saw into something wearable, yet emotionally rich. Even the most intricate details served a concept. To me, that’s essential: a collection should speak in a unified voice.

It is precisely this conceptual consistency and artisanal quality that led my garments to be recognized as applied artworks. My designs were officially registered, juried, and protected under Hungary’s system of industrial art — a distinction that reflects the standard of craftsmanship we uphold.

In 2014, I was honoured to receive the Victor Vasarely Award — named for the Hungarian French artist who transformed how we perceive form and movement. The award affirmed my belief that fashion can be more than clothing. At its highest level, it becomes applied art — a way to think, feel, and express.

Over time, I began listening more closely to the women who wear my work. Not just models, but — as one of my muses once put it — “civilians.” In the early days, I designed mostly in small sizes. One woman, just after a cosmetic procedure, came to the atelier determined to fit into a suit. That moment inspired my Modern Venus II piece and marked a shift in my practice.

I began to study body types, colour harmony, and proportion more deliberately. I realized how the right design can offer not just flattery, but confidence. A well-chosen silhouette, paired with colours that suit one’s skin, hair, and eyes, can transform how a woman sees herself. This understanding became the basis for private sessions and lectures I’ve since held — both for clients and university audiences.

All this experience feeds back into the Adele Frank web shop. We now design not just for beauty, but for wearability — without compromising elegance. Many styles, like soft A-line silhouettes or tones of ecru, are made to complement a wide range of shapes and colour types. These aren’t accidents — they’re the result of years of observation, adjustment, and care.

And above all, there is sustainability. In fashion, overproduction is a silent crisis. Unsold garments are discounted, destroyed, or forgotten. I find this unacceptable. At Adele Frank, we follow a slow fashion model: most pieces are made to order or produced in limited series. No rush. No excess. Just enduring design.

So, whether you’ve found your way here through curiosity, a love of thoughtful fashion, or the search for something personal — welcome. I hope this feels like more than a collection. I hope it feels like a world.

Warmly,
Adele Frank
