Adele Frank is a Hungarian fashion designer and artist, who moved from sophisticated couture collections to more conceptual forms of art, as she puts it “towards an alchemy of design, paintings, jewellery, and fashion”. She has had almost 50 fashion shows (London, Paris, Moscow, Budapest, Pecs)- exhibition-performances in embassies, art galleries, museums and theatres. These events starred actresses, ballet dancers, drag queens besides the models, always balancing between „Chic and Shock”, between „Prestige and Provocation”.
Her paintings were exhibited in 2008, 2010, 2014, 2015 and 2021.
She was honoured with the prestigious Victor Vasarely Art Award in 2014.
Paintings:
She defines her artistic view as “emotional aesthetics”, a new emotional dimension that searches for the balance between timeliness and timelessness.
Many of her artworks – especially The Modern Venus series and The Starving Beauty series -convey political and societal critiques. The artist examines the relationship between women and power, she comments on the commodification of beauty and urges the viewer to question modern cultural norms.
Notable installations include the extravagant “Modern Venus – Keep the Shape,” a sculpture that merges oil, textile, and inflatable elements. Equally memorable was a performance featuring a ballerina in medical gauze, posing in front of a painting depicting plastic surgery. Her inspiration comes from classical portrayals of femininity: the Venus of Milo, the Statue of Liberty, Declaration of independence, or Botticelli’ Venus.
Her self-portrait, The Geishabride, analyses the hidden paradox of putting femininity on a pedestal. Her other self-portrait is titled Restricted Area, where she recreated Marilyn Monroe’s famous calendar photograph featuring herself.
Some of her works offer strong social, political, or historical commentary (Miss P. Is So Enjoying Brexit-Trapeze, The Risk of Playing Chess with God, Power is our Pride), some reflect on today’s global socio-political climate (Flags series), while some display the individual’s inner and outer tensions (Pleasant Calmness series).
She enjoys experimenting with different techniques; in her painting – dress paraphrase pieces, a distinctive crumpled sewing application technique is used to create unique 3D effects. Her 2023 fashion show featured AI-generated images, and the cover of her first novel, “Introducing Mary Bride,” showcases one of her paintings.

She held boutique shows and university guest lectures about the history of fashion, fashion trends, the theory of colours and body shapes as well as sustainability. Adele Frank is known for her customer centric approach and personal styling.
